Vinyl - Useless Machine

In the first 10 weeks of my study Art & Technology, we worked on a project called Creative Solutions.
We had to build an Useless Machine. You might have seen one of those before on YouTube, the ones where on had to flip a switch and the machine would automatically switch it back (turning itself off). We learned how to build one of those and then basically got complete freedom to build or own.

The Useless Machine had to fit with our personality and should look completely different from the basic one we build earlier. Thanks to some classmates and friends I decided to build a Jukebox which fits with my love for music. Yeah, building a Jukebox was maybe not the easiest idea. But on the other hand, it created the perfect challenge for me.

At least I can now tell you in honesty that it is extremely hard to build a Jukebox. Especially for someone who has never used Adobe Illustrater or a lasercutter before. I spend my evenings at school measuring wood, adding buttons, lights and painting. Also, thanks to Jurian I got the lasercut design to print flexible wood. The flexible wood seemed perfect for the curved top of the Jukebox but this was a big mistake. In the end it turned out the curves were too sharp and the glue too weak. So I changed plans and fixed the top with wooden slats. Then I searched for my paint and brushes and well, without a plan, without thinking, started painting the Jukebox the way I saw it in my head.I had to measure everything to make it

The result: Vinyl. Press the button to start, then press the button underneath the song you want it to play! Wait, what, that’s not the song you choose! It is a random old song! Oh and hey, what’s that? The Jukebox turns off after 15 seconds. What a shame, this thing is completely useless:
A lot of wires, not all in the right colorcode (because I worked at school in the evenings when the classroom was closed)
